Frequently asked questions

Does ClientOS change anything in my Tally or Busy?

No. The connector only reads your accounting data; it never changes your voucher types, your numbering method, your ledgers or any setting. You keep using Tally or Busy exactly as you do today. See the Tally and Busy sync guide.

Can I use Busy instead of Tally?

Yes. Both work the same way, using the standard accounting behaviour they share. Wherever this help says "Tally", it means Busy too.

Can I bulk import my old invoices?

No, and on purpose. Import is for master data only: your clients, vendors, products, services and opening stock. Invoices and other statutory documents mint official numbers and move stock, so they are always made on their own screens, not imported. See the data import guide.

What happens when I mark a GSTR-1 period as filed?

It locks the invoices in that period so their numbers can no longer be freed and reused. This keeps ClientOS in permanent agreement with the return you filed on the government portal. Do your cancelling and correcting before you file, not after. See the GST guide.

Who on my team can see what?

Each team member has a role (Owner, Admin, Manager, Engineer / Field Staff, or Accounts) that decides what they can see and do. A field engineer sees their visits; your accounts person sees the money; only owners and admins reach Settings. See the users and roles guide.

What can my clients see?

Only their own account, through the client portal: their invoices, quotations, contracts, service history, and a way to raise a request. A client never sees another client's information. See the client portal guide.

Is my data kept private?

Yes. Sensitive details (tax IDs, bank details, uploaded bills, message content and recipients) are encrypted and are never written to logs. If someone exercises their data-protection rights, you can export or erase their personal data from the client's page. See the clients and vendors guide.

How is a quotation turned into an invoice?

Once a quotation is accepted, its page offers convert buttons that copy the customer and lines into a new draft invoice (and proforma, delivery challan, or AMC where relevant). You then issue it as usual. See the sales guide.

How does stock get updated?

Automatically, at the physical movement: receiving goods on a GRN adds stock, and issuing an invoice or delivery challan removes it, each counted exactly once. Services never move stock. You only adjust by hand to correct a count. See the catalog and inventory guide.

Where do I start?

The getting started tutorial takes you from adding your first client to a paid invoice in about five minutes.
